"Cautious, careful people always casting about to preserve their reputation or social standards never can bring about reform. Those who are really in earnest are willing to be anything or nothing in the world's estimation, and publicly and privately, in season and out, avow their sympathies with despised ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences."
—Susan B. Anthony
So I made this picture only in response to what happened with Rae yesterday. Which was wrong. I know there was more people supporting the picture then bashing her but I'm writing this--and posting this for the ignorant people that had the nerve to comment on Rae's picture in the first place.
To start off, Feminism isn't 'Tumblr sh*t' It's been going on for YEARS. And true Feminist aren't man haters or think Muslim women are oppressed because of their religion. (And other bullsh*t stuff like that) When women do stuff like that they aren't real Feminists. It's also not about hate. It's about being equal and loving each other no matter who and what you are. It's true that women are still not treated the same as men. Just like how some races aren't treated equal either. Sure, we could debate about this topic literately forever. Feminism isn't just about women. It's linked to human rights. I'm sure if somebody in this community did a picture of black pride or another culture I'm pretty use people wouldn't bash it like what happened with the Feminist post. I'm sure there would be a few rude comments but not like what happened with Rae's picture.
It's not alright that her picture was attacked. There was no sign of disrespect to any other sex or race. An example of why we still need Feminism is because women are not still fully treated equal. Who here likes sports? Did you know that male sports players like basket ball and baseball are given the most popular days and paid more then the female teams? The men and women team both play for the same company both are trained and skilled in the same sport but STILL do not get paid equal. And the women still do not get a chance to play the popular days. (As in the male sports team get Fridays and weekends because that's when fans are more often to purchase tickets for the games) Why is this? Because there's sexism in sports still. I don't remember the actually amount of money paid to the teams but let's say the male teams get 10.00 dollars a ticket. (Totally made that amount up) Women's teams get half of that.
And for the fact that Prince William will be known for his words while his wife Kate will be known for her fashion style. Kate just became a Duchess and her words won't be as important then her husband's but what she's wearing will matter. And people say women are equal?
I also need Feminism because I'm f*cking tired not being taken seriously. I was in a debate team once and I remember the guy I was up against wasn't taking agreeing what I had to say and he had the nerve to that "I don't agree with you but it's okay. You're right because you're cute!" Now, I know that not everybody think this way. And a lot of women are closed minded on this topic too. Feminism is tied in with Equal rights. I'm not just a Feminist I'm an 'Equalist' if you will. I don't care if you're gay, female, male, black, red, handicapped, or poka-dotted. I also don't care what people do unless it's harming somebody else. And Rae wasn't hurting anybody by posting her picture and expressing her option.
I see people in this community posting Lolicon and Shotacon crap and I don't see them getting attacked like what happened with a Feminist supporting picture. (I know Shota and Lolicon are just drawings and characters they aren't real children but it's way more offensive then a Feminist post considering it could be linked to pedophilia.)
And I'll end this rant by apologizing to Rae for putting her name in this. I don't want her to get more stressed but I posted this to support her and to prove that there's more love then hate and close-minded here in this Community. As for the trolls who might comment on here or post negative comments go ahead! I don't mind! I'll just ignore you!
Also, everybody is in purple because I looked up the official Feminism and Gender equality color and I read that shades of purples.
